Simply Acrylic Gesso – White Primer – Daler Rowney – 500 ml

Daler Rowney Simply Acrylic Gesso is suitable for priming surfaces before applying acrylic paint or oil paint. The primer prevents the absorption of the paints and allows you to perfectly prime your canvas or canvas panel. Simply Acrylic Gesso primer creates a matt-white surface with a slight texturization.

The primer prevents the absorption of the paints so they can be evenly applied. When priming your canvas before painting you reduce its absorbency and your painting has a longer life span.

We recommend you to apply two to three layers of gesso for an optimal priming of your canvas. Apply the first layer evenly in horizontal or vertical direction, the second layer in the opposite direction and a possible third layer in the same direction as the first layer - e.g. vertical - horizontal - vertical. Please wait for every layer to be completely dry before applying the next layer or beginning to paint. Generally, 2-3 layers of gesso are sufficient to completely prime the canvas / surface. According to the desired effect the final gesso layer can be applied rather roughly or, for a smooth surface, sanded after drying. Let the gesso fully dry prior to applying paint.

Please note: priming your canvas is only necessary if it is not already primed or the existing priming is too thin.
